I use Fl Studio 9, and I record on a smartmusic microphone and record using Audacity. :P Haha some of the worst, but free equipment :D

It's all about time, experience, motivation, and effort. If you have all of those on your hands, it's no trouble at all to make great music, if you're missing one more more, not so much. At least, that's my take on it. :)

FL Studio 8 Producer Edition
Vengeance Essential Clubsounds 1 & 2
ReFX Nexus2 (+several expansions)
Use Google to find them.
Of course, simply having the same resources as I do won't make you as good of a producer, it takes a lot of skill and patience. These are all quite reliable though once you know how to use them. :)
